I tuned in just when that happened... what actually happened? Did they rule a completed pass, then fumble..but when nobody picked it up, they changed it to an incomplete pass??! Wtf!!??
It was a good call. Clearly an incomplete pass
They called it incomplete. Upon review they called it a COMPLETED PASS. But the receiver was not down by contact and thus he fumbled. However, since nobody picked up the fumbled football, the call reverts back to being incomplete.
1) it was ruled a completion and a fumble, not an incompletion
2) nothing about any of that bullshit was a "good call"
Pretty much. If Philly jumps on the recovery it 100% gets overturned to catch/fumble and Philly ball. Which means it was a...wait for it...catch/fumble.
From that point you have to treat it like any other fumble with no clear recovery. Which is to give it to the fumbling team where they fumbled.
Not the reason they lost but bad call.
